Tollywood's Active Producers Guild is discussing a lot on slashing the paychecks of star heroes in view of the post Corona business.
Leaving the already signed agreements aside, the new projects are going to bring new figures. As per a source a cut down of 20 to 25% in the remuneration of heroes is going to be the decision of Guild.
But how the heroes can be convinced is the question mark. Because, all these years, the film business has been dependent on the stardom of heroes. Producers depend on the dates of them.
There is another version that is seeing light. How to fix the new remuneration to heroes? Is cutting down 20-25% of remuneration solves the problem?
Well, to an extent the producers can pressurize on other technicians to cut down the remunerations as the heroes themselves are compromising.
Apart from that there is a bigger peril. If the producers openly project that the cost of production is reduced with cutting down on payments., they may face problems while negotiating with the buyers/OTT platforms.
On the other hand some producers in the Guild are also thinking that cut down in pay scale is not the solution.
Until and unless the new market value of different heroes is known in the post Covid scenario (considering the amounts offered by OTTs), the remunerations cannot be fixed.
All in all, one thing is sure. Heroes and star technicians have to suffer huge pay cuts to continue in the field or else they perish.
