HC stays order on colouring panchayat buildings!

The Andhra Pradesh high court on Tuesday suspended the state government order (GO Ms No. 623) on adding one more colour to the existing colours of gram panchayat buildings in the state.

The high court gave interim orders to this effect while hearing a petition filed by advocate Somayajulu who challenged the GO on the grounds that the colours used for painting of gram panchayat buildings was in violation of the high court and supreme court orders.

The court posted the case to May 18, while asking the government to file a counter on the petitioner’s argument.

The Jagan government on April 23, issued the order directing that the officials paint a mud colour to the panchayat buildings apart from three colours used in YSR Congress party flag. Readmore!

The latest order was issued in the wake of the court’s directions not to use party colours painted on gram panchayat buildings.

While the court directed that the government should remove all the YSRC colours immediately, the government interpreted it in a different way.

Instead of removing the three colours, the Jagan government ordered that a fourth colour also should be used – mud colour.

The officials have now started painting an additional red colour to the three colours of YSRC – stating that red colour was a symbol of earth, blue colour represents water revolution, white colour represents milk revolution and green colour for agriculture.
