For the first time, KCR meets Cong MLAs!

In a surprising development, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao gave an appointment to a delegation of Congress party legislators, who wanted to give him a representation on the last week’s custodial death incident.

This is for the first time after taking over as the chief minister of Telangana in 2014 that KCR had given an appointment to the Congress MLAs.

Though they made several attempts in the past to meet him inside and outside the state assembly, they never got an opportunity to meet him personally.

In the morning, the Congress delegation met Governor Tamilisai Soundarrajan at Raj Bhavan and submitted a representation to her seeking stringent action against the police officials responsible for the death of a 40-year old woman Mariyamma at Addaguduru police station in Yadadri Bhongir district last Friday. KCR instructed DGP M Mahender Reddy to immediately inquiry about the lock up death of Dalit women Mariamma, and take stringent action against the police personnel responsible as per the law and if need be, remove them from the service.

He announced that Mariamma’s son Uday Kiran would be given a government job, a house and Rs 15 Lakh ex gratia amount, while her two daughters would be given Rs 10 Lakh each.

The CM instructed the DGP to visit Chintakaniki to find out the facts and details about the lockup death and console the members of the victim’s family.
