Fake Hype? Toxic Business Numbers Questioned

Kannada superstar Yash, who created box office history with “KGF” and “KGF 2”, is gearing up for the release of his new film “Toxic” on March 19.

Unlike his previous outings, Yash is also co-producing this film, which reportedly increases the financial stakes for him.

In recent days, there has been aggressive publicity around the theatrical business of “Toxic”.

The team has been projecting massive figures for various regional rights, claiming record-breaking deals. Readmore!

For the Telugu states, producer Dil Raju has acquired the theatrical rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The film’s team claimed that the Telugu rights fetched around Rs 120 crore. However, trade sources suggest that the actual figure is significantly lower.

Similarly, the team recently announced that the Tamil theatrical rights were sold for Rs 70 crore. Industry insiders, however, indicate that this number too is being overstated.

As for the Hindi and Malayalam versions, reports suggest that they were sold for comparatively modest rates.

Despite this, the narrative being pushed is that the theatrical deals alone have ensured massive returns even before release.

With “Toxic” carrying high expectations after the blockbuster success of the KGF franchise, all eyes are now on its actual box office performance to see whether the hype translates into numbers on the ground.
