Ex-chief secretary to be advisor for Polavaram?

If the reports doing rounds in the media circles are to be believed, former chief secretary during the combined Andhra Pradesh regime P Ramakanth Reddy is most likely to be the advisor to the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government on Polavaram major irrigation project.

According to these reports, Jagan has approved the appointment of Ramakanth Reddy as the advisor to the Polavaram irrigation project, which has become prestigious for the state government now.

Ramakanth Reddy served as the chief secretary during the regime of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and had been very close to the YSR family. After retirement, he had been appointed as the State Election Commissioner.

Interestingly, it was Ramakanth Reddy who had reportedly advised Jagan on reducing the tenure of the SEC by promulgating an ordinance amending the AP Panchayat Raj Act, which paved way for the removal of controversial officer Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar recently. Readmore!

May be it was only to bring Ramakanth Reddy into the post of Advisor for Polavaram project did Jagan sack former technical and legal advisor to the project H K Sahu from the post.

Sahu was appointed as a consultant by the erstwhile Chandrababu Naidu government on April 14, 2018, to extend technical and legal advices to the Andhra Pradesh government on Polavaram project.

He had been coordinating with the Polavaram Project Authority in Hyderabad and was being paid a monthly remuneration of Rs 2 lakh.

Sahu had earlier served as chairman of both Godavari River Management Board and Krishna River Management Board.
