Former Telangana health minister and senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader Eatala Rajender, who has been in the headlines for over a week following the face-off with the party high command, has become a puzzle for his followers.
Though Eatala has gained a lot of sympathy and support from various sections of people, including the Backward Classes organisations, nobody is able to gauge his mind as to what his plans are.
While Pradesh Congress Committee working president A Revanth Reddy has been indirectly extending support to Eatala by launching a counter-attack on the K Chandrasekhar Rao government over alleged encroachment of Devar Yamzal lands, former Congress MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy sprang a surprise by meeting Eatala in Hyderabad on Thursday.
This led to the speculations that Eatala might join hands with Konda and probably even Revanth Reddy to launch a new political party, after quitting his assembly membership and the TRS.
Sources said Konda had discussions with Eatala on the possibility of floating a new political party in Telangana to take on the TRS.
“He tried to convince Eatala in this regard, but was surprised that there was no immediate strategy for Eatala on his future plans,” sources said.
He told reporters later that he had met Eatala only as a matter of courtesy and to express his solidarity with him for taking on the TRS leadership.
“His wife Jamuna is related to my family and so, it was just a casual meet with no political significance to it,” Konda said.
He, however, said Eatala has now got a lifetime opportunity to take a serious decision on his political career. If he takes a strong decision, he will survive in politics, Konda said.
