Don't make improbable promises, IYR warns parties

Former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh and the Bharatiya Janata Party leader I Y R Krishna Rao has sounded a note of caution to the political parties in the state to think twice before making promises to the people during the elections.

IYR, who is known for expressing his candid views on various issues through social media, said the people were keenly watching the pre-election promises made by the parties in their eagerness to come to power.

“After 2014 and 2019 elections, there is a welcome development in Andhra Pradesh. People are openly questioning the ruling parties for failing to implement the promises they have made before the elections. It has made the parties go on alert,” he said.

The former chief secretary said hereafter the political parties should look into the possibility of implementing their promises, before incorporating them in their manifesto. Readmore!

Reacting to the recent strike notice given by the state government employees on the pay revision issue, Krishna Rao said if political parties come to power by indiscriminately making promises, they would have to face difficulties in their implementation.

“This will cause unrest among the people and it would surround the government from all sides. Today, Andhra Pradesh is facing the same situation,” he said, reminding the YSRC government of its pre-election promises.
