Divyavani quits TDP, withdraws later

Actress-turned-Telugu Desam Party official spokesperson Divyavani, who created mild tremors in the party by posting in the social media that she is quitting the party, withdrew her post within hours.

Divyavani, who shot to fame with heroine roles in hit Rajendra Prasad-starrer films like Pelli Pustakam, Edurinti Mogudu-Pakkinti Pellam and Iddaru Pellala Muddula Police etc., has been playing very active role in the TDP, countering the attack from the YSR Congress party.

However, of late, Divyavani had been sulking for lack of importance to her in the party. At the recently-held party meeting Mahanadu, she was completely sidelined and despite being the spokesperson, she was not given a chance to speak.

In an interview to a YouTube channel, Divyavani expressed her anguish, saying she was humiliated at Mahanadu. Readmore!

“I was not given even two minutes’ time to speak at Mahanadu. Though I have been rendering selfless service to the party, I have not got any recognition,” she lamented.

Stating that she was very much pained to note that there is no position to film artistes like her in the party which was established by a film star himself, Divyavani said there was no proper guidance for the sincere workers in the party.

“All these days, I have been an official spokesperson of the party without any official powers,” she said.

In the same breath, Divyavani also showed soft corner towards the YSR Congress party.

“I don’t have any personal rivalry with chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy or former minister Kodali Nani,” she said.

On Tuesday morning, Divyavani tweeted that she was quitting the TDP, as there was a post from one TDP activist Varra Ravinder Reddy that she was being suspended from the party by party disciplinary committee president Bachula Arjunudu.

“I am resigning from the party in protest against the interference by some evil forces in the TDP. I sincerely thank every TDP worker who stood by her in the party all these days,” she said.

But by afternoon, Divyavani deleted the post, after the TDP clarified that she was not suspended. Arjunudu called her and told her that the post about her suspension was fake. In the past too, there were such posts against Ayyanna Patrudu.

After withdrawing her resignation, Divyavani said she would continue in the party, but would take up the injustice done to her to the notice of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and general secretary Nara Lokesh.
