Dammalapati back as AP's Advocate General

Senior high court advocate Dammalapati Srinivas, who has been arguing cases for Telugu Desam Party and pro-TDP officials, is all set to be back as the advocate general of Andhra Pradesh.

Dammalapati had been the advocate general during the previous TDP regime headed by N Chandrababu Naidu between 2016 and 2019. He resigned soon after the YSR Congress party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power.

Subsequently, the Jagan government targeted Dammalapati, accusing him of indulging in various corrupt practices during the TDP regime.

In early 2020, the Mangalagiri police registered a case against him and his wife and close relatives for allegedly cheating a retired lecturer promising registration of flats in the Amaravati capital region. Readmore!

It was alleged that managing director of Capital Housing Projects Pvt Ltd Nannapaneni Seetharama Raju, who happens to be brother-in-law of Dammalapati, had cheated some people of promising flats at Krishnayapalem village, which falls under the capital region.

Dammalapati filed a petition in the state high court seeking a stay on any action including his arrest in view of the state government requesting for a CBI inquiry into the land scam and giving its assent for the same in March last year.

Then chief justice J K Maheshwari stayed the inquiry and investigation in the ACB case against Dammalapati and directed ACB not to take any action against the accused. The case was finally struck off.
