Cong seeks YSRC MP's help in Telangana polls!

Surprising as it might sound, Telangana Congress party leaders have sought the support of a YSR Congress party MP in the ensuing assembly elections in the state, scheduled this year end.

On Saturday, Congress party general secretary in-charge of Telangana affairs Manikrao Thakre, along with former MP V Hanumantha Rao went to the residence of YSRC MP and president of All India BC Welfare Association R Krishnaiah at Vidyanagar in Hyderabad to hold discussions.

During the hour-long meeting, the Congress leaders sought the support of Krishnaiah to secure the votes of the BCs for the Congress party in the coming elections, as the party was in favour of the OBCs.

For the last few days, Krishnaiah has been demanding that the state government take up enumeration of BCs in the state and he has been seeking the support of various parties. Readmore!

The Congress leaders told Krishnaiah that former AICC president Rahul Gandhi, too, has bene asking for the census of BCs in the country. They told him that the party would play attention to resolving all the issues of the BCs.

“The demands of Krishnaiah coincide with that of the Congress party. If the party gets the support of the BCs, it would definitely come to power in Telangana. So we need your support,” the Congress leaders told Krishnaiah.

It is not immediately known whether Krishnaiah had given any assurance to the Congress party. He is now a YSR Congress party leader and he has to take a call only after discussing with party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In view of the close relations between Jagan and Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, it is doubtful whether Krishnaiah would be able to help the Congress in Telangana.
