Komatireddy brothers – Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy – have their own brand in the Congress party, particularly in Nalgonda district.
They have been able to withstand the wave of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and sustain the Congress party, along with another senior K Jana Reddy, in Nalgonda district for a quite long time.
However, according to the reports from the party circles, there have been serious differences between Venkat Reddy and Rajagopal Reddy, thanks to the Congress high command’s decision to appoint a new Pradesh Congress Committee chief.
While Venkat Reddy is strongly lobbying for the PCC chief post, his younger brother has refused to come to the former’s support. He did not even issue a statement in support of his brother.
When AICC in-charge of Telangana affairs Manickam Tagore called him along with over 150 leaders to collect their opinions on the appointment of new PCC chief, Rajagopal Reddy did not even come to Gandhi Bhavan, leave alone extending his support to Venkat Reddy.
It is an open secret that Rajagopal Reddy had been looking towards Bharatiya Janata Party to further his political prospects.
He issued statements praising Narendra Modi leadership several times, but did not join the party because of lack of support from his followers, who were also rallying behind Venkat Reddy.
Since then, Rajagopal Reddy has reportedly developed a grouse against his elder brother. He knows that if Venkat Reddy becomes the PCC chief, he would once again reign supreme in Nalgonda. This would make Rajagopal Reddy irrelevant.
Even if joins the BJP, he would not have any clout in the party due to lack of support from his followers. That is why, he is keeping away from his elder brother, say sources.
