Andhra Pradesh former chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu appears to be making a prudent decision in a specific matter.
He has effectively kept rebels from other parties, who have joined the TDP, at bay by refraining from offering them any tickets to contest in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh.
We are aware of rebels such as Raghu Rama Raju, Vundavalli Sridevi, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Kotamreddy Sreedhar Reddy, and Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy, who turned against the YCP due to unfulfilled personal desires.
Despite serving as MPs and MLAs for almost four and a half years, they have become rebels for not receiving tickets to contest. Their expression of animosity towards the YCP is evident in their decision to join the TDP.
Chandrababu did the right thing by withholding tickets from them. In fact, neither Chandrababu nor Jagan Mohan Reddy should encourage the unhealthy trend of selfish MLAs and MPs engaging in politics solely for personal gain.
In a way, CBN has set aside these self-serving leaders. It remains to be seen if he adheres to this philosophy in politics.
Indeed, it is acceptable to accept politicians who are not in government positions as MLAs and MPs in the current term. Such politicians may choose to join any party, and the party head may accept them based on the party's needs and relationships.
However, endorsing rebel MLAs and MPs from other parties in the current term would set a wrong example for democracy, a point to which Chandrababu Naidu has effectively responded with a firm stance.
