Swarna Palace is a popular hotel in Vijayawada. The residents of Vijayawada, the people who frequently travel to the city are familiar with this hotel. Such a popular hotel doesn't have building permission.
The bitter truth is that they have taken permission for residential purposes and run the hotel from 1989 to till now.
Permission Not Required
When the owners applied for the hotel construction in 1984, the application was rejected for not following the guidelines. They have applied for the permissions on residential purposes in 1989 and they have received the related permission. Contrary to the permission, they have constructed a hotel and run it from then onwards. They have constructed another floor without permission.
From 1989 to 2020, for a period of nearly three decades, the governments, government officials have conveniently ignored them. Can any common man do it? If a person takes a domestic power connection and uses it for commercial purposes, he will be fined lakhs of rupees. If a common person takes building permission for residential purposes and deviates from the original plan, it will get demolished someday.
It has been three decades, nearly six governments changed after the construction of Swarna Palace but none of them identified the issue. No municipal employee has revealed this information. Others may not know about it but municipal corporation employees will definitely know it.
Everybody Has Their Needs
There are two aspects here. One thing is that the concerned persons are receiving the amounts. Second thing is that all the governments are favorable to Swarna Palace. Unless this fire accident happened, this information might not have come out.
This is a classic example to the statement that "If one has connections, anything is possible in democracy". If a proper enquiry is conducted, there will be thousands, lakhs of such issues in our villages, towns, cities, states. A film studio was constructed at their whims and fancies but they have regularized it with some fees when their favorable government came to power later.
Demand has risen for hospital beds due to the coronavirus pandemic and several lodges were transformed into hospitals. The hotel that doesn't have permissions have changed it to a hospital utilizing the business opportunity.
Hospital Business
A comedian joins in a hospital in a movie. He brings girls to his room and enjoys with his friends. He says that a hotel is a risky place for such things. If it is a hospital, there will not be any police raids. Though it is a comedy scene, there is some truth in it.
Difference Between A Hotel And A Hospital
There will be luxurious rooms in corporate hospitals. They will have all the facilities. They will have medical facilities in addition. If it is a hotel, it will have all the facilities except for healthcare. If we keep this aside, the hospitals have many comforts. People don't care about hotels but they will give a lot of importance to a hospital. So the hospital business is far better than the hotel business. It will have a hotel business along with the hospital revenue.
Corona crisis has shown this business opportunity to many people. Many hotels that were having less occupancy in corona time have changed to COVID-19 hospitals. With the increasing cases, non-availability of beds, governments have given permissions quickly. When they were hotels, they did not follow the rules. If they became hospitals, what would be the situation? We can imagine it. The same thing has happened in Swarna Palace.
Weak Response
The response of the opposition party in AP to the mishap in the Swarna Palace issue is weak. Though it is a private COVID-19 centre, the government has announced ex-gratia to the deceased families. No opposition leader has spoken on this issue. Jana Sena Pawan Kalyan didn't talk on this issue.
There are reports that Telugu Desam party has connections with Doctor Ramesh hospital. When Atchen Naidu got the opportunity to get treated in a hospital of his choice, he chose Ramesh Hospital. Unless they have strong political connections how can they run a hotel without required permissions? How can they change it to a COVID centre instantly? What is more pathetic is that the COVID negative results for the patients died in the mishap.
The people who do a lot of hungama if some ant jumps a red signal in Vizag, have gone silent on the Vijayawada issue. There is no need to talk about pro-TDP media. They are acting as if nothing happened. If there is no YCP government in AP, the issue might have been sidelined by now.
If It Is Bezawada For You..
MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju is saying that he studied in Bezawada. He questioned why shouldn't he have affection towards the city. He was born and brought up in West Godavari. But he needs Amaravati as a capital. He wants Vijayawada development.
He has affection for the city as he studied there. Then the people who were born in Vizag, North Andhra will have affection towards their place. Shouldn't we consider their sentiments? Shouldn't they expect their region's development?
What Did They Do To The Districts?
Chandrababu Naidu is saying that he has announced 180 projects for 13 districts and decentralization has been done. When the capital was announced as Amaravati by him, he announced several projects to every district. Not even one per cent has been materialized.
He might have completed one percent or ten percent in Amaravati but what about the promises made to other districts? He is saying that he has allotted educational institutions to Tirupati, Vizag? When the High Court is allotted to Kurnool, some critics are commenting that what will come there except for xerox shops? If IIMs, other educational institutions are allotted, what will come there? Except for a government hostel?
The Other Side Of The Coin
There was a popular saying that no one is needed to defeat Congress but their leaders are enough. Similarly, pro-TDP media is a big enemy to the party. They are seriously targeting BCs, the Reddy community. They are thinking that they are cornering YCP. By doing so, they are giving a feeling to the Reddy community that Jagan is doing many things to them. They are giving a feeling to the BCs that pro-TDP media is targeting them. The same media is betting everything for Amaravati. They are not even thinking about the emotions of Rayalaseema, North Andhra people.
Is Print Media Influence Still There?
Is print media influence still there on Telugu people? The main news dailies are struggling with the corona crisis. They have decreased circulation. They have reduced the staff. They have decreased the news. Newspapers are not going to villages. The sale of newspapers has been stopped in shops. There is no need to talk about income.
How can this print media influence Telugu people at this juncture? Moreover, every common man knows the truth about print media. What this print media is and whom they support is known to everybody now. When an accident happens in Vijayawada, one media writes 'Mishap in a COVID centre', another media clarifies that it is a private COVID centre.
TDP lost the game in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by blindly believing in this type of media. What is more surprising is that they want to fight the 2024 elections by depending on the same media. TDP is not understanding the ground reality even after bitter experiences and they are believing this Bhasmasura media.
