Chandrababu Naidu in dilemma on ties with BJP?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been trying to get closer to Bharatiya Janata Party, appears to be dilly-dallying over restoring ties with the saffron party.

This was the impression he had given while interacting with the media during his visit to Amaravati on Thursday.

He had to encounter a natural question from the media as to whether he was trying to get closer to the BJP once again, as was evident from his recent statements, tweets and his unusual support to the decisions taken by the Centre.

Instead of denying such reports outright, Naidu tried to evade a direct answer. Readmore!

“If you are getting such an impression, I cannot help,” he told the reporters.

However, Naidu was also pointing out to the recent assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, where the BJP had a tough time in coming to power and West Bengal, where the Trinamul Congress had won the by-polls.

“Situations will not remain constant forever. They keep changing,” he said.

He also told the reporters that the main reason for the grand alliance of opposition parties for not able to take on the BJP in the last Lok Sabha elections was lack of proper leadership, while the BJP was able to project a strong leadership in Narendra Modi.

Though Naidu did not give clarity on whether he is planning to get back into the NDA fold, it appeared he is hesitant in making the moves towards the BJP.

After seeing the formation of NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra and not so encouraging results for the BJP in other states, he must be in a dilemma.

“For now, Naidu might not take any such decision. Since he has already taken several U-turns on his political stand, he is apprehensive that if the people reject the BJP, then he will land up in troubles once again. So, it is better to wait and watch till the next elections,” source said.
