'Caste Houses' In USA: A New Gated Community Concept

This GreatAndhra Big Story begins is about the new phenomenon called "Caste Houses".

A well-known caste from Andhra Pradesh has now tried to show its pride by building a housing project in the United States where only members of that caste can buy houses. 

In today’s modern and global life, this is shown as an extreme example of caste feeling that still continues among migrants.

In old Indian villages there used to be separate streets for each caste. Though today there are caste-based welfare bhavans and hostels, exclusive living communities for one caste are not common.  Readmore!

The question is why people who live abroad and lead modern lives still hold on to caste when their own children marry outside their caste, language, and even nationality.

The criticism in this video is on first-generation migrants for film hero worship, misusing association funds, inviting celebrities for luxury events, and failing to encourage the US-born Telugu youth into leadership. Such acts, it says, damage the image of Indians.

The next generation is slowly moving towards a broader global identity where caste has little value. When caste is already fading in next generations of US Telugus, why create new barriers in its name?
