Back-to-Back Flops Push Ram to a Dead End

When Ram Pothineni did a mass film like Skanda, audiences stayed away.

When he tried a feel-good film like Andhra King Taluka, buyers suffered heavy losses, and the producer was also left in the red. So the question now is: what should be done next?

Even before these two films, Ram acted in a thriller, but that too failed at the box office. No matter which genre he attempts, the result has been failure after failure.

Even films that received decent word of mouth did not sustain in theatres, leaving his career in a state of uncertainty. Readmore!

At present, Ram’s career is clearly at a crossroads. A project with RK Media is said to be under discussion, but repeated failures have significantly eroded his theatrical market. It is now said to be under ₹20 crore. The OTT market position is already well known.

In this situation, making a film with Ram would require a minimum budget of around ₹50 crore. Andhra King Taluka itself reportedly cost close to ₹65 crore.

Even if a new film is made within a ₹50 crore budget, it does not appear commercially viable in the current market.

On one hand, there is uncertainty over what kind of film will bring audiences back to theatres.

On the other, the bigger question is who will be willing to invest with confidence under the present market conditions.
