ATA Offers Youth Scholarships and launches Matrimonial Services

American Telugu Association held its first Board meeting under the leadership of President Parmesh Bheemreddy in Raleigh, NC. Mr. Bheemreddy presided over the board meeting. 

It was attended by about 150 people from all over the US that included Board of Trustees, Advisors, Regional Coordinator’s, Standing Committee Chairs and other Volunteers.

To cater to the changing needs of the Telugu Community which has migrated heavily in 1990s, ATA has launched a special service for NRI’s ATA Matrimonial Service. Matrimonial committee demonstrated the registrations process and launched the web site atamatrimony.com.

The Board has approved Youth Scholarships for high school students of the Telugu Community. This Program awards scholarships to college bound high school students in the Telugu community towards their college education, starting this academic year.

President Parmesh Bheemreddy appointed Bhuvanesh Boojala, President-Elect, as the Chair for the ATA Vedukalu Program, a series of programs, to be held in December 2019 in Telugu States.

President said final program of the ATA Vedukalu will be held on Dec 29th, 2019. ATA Vedukalu is a program conducted by ATA biennially in India and comprises of cultural programs, charitable work and encourages Telugu youth in America to display their acquired Indian cultural traits back home in front of their loved ones.

During its day long meeting, the board has short listed Los Angeles and Atlanta for the next Convention. While the ATA team of Los Angeles presented the logistics of the Convention Center, Atlanta team has offered to share the details shortly.

The board has emphasized the importance of widening its membership base for better community outreach and proposed a massive membership drive soon, with innovative ways, including discounted membership fee.

In another important motion, the board passed a resolution, recognizing the services of Ananth Reddy from Raleigh who served as ATA Board of Trustee and Secretary.

Regional Coordinators and Standing committee chairs presented their reports to the board.

ATA leadership thanked board of trustees from Raleigh Madhu Bommineni, Sai Sudini, Standing Committee chairs Pavan Nomula and Venkat Yetukuri, Regional Coordinators Ajay Maddi and Neharika Navalga and the entire team of Raleigh for their great hospitality and pulling off such a wonderful event.
