Another round of elections in Telangana again!

Even as the campaigning for the by-election to Nagarjunsagar assembly seat comes to an end by Thursday evening, Telangana is gearing up for yet another round of elections this month end, even as the people are bearing the brunt of rapidly spreading Covid-19.

The Telangana State Election Commission on Thursday issued notification for the conduct of elections to Khammam and Warangal municipal corporations, besides five other municipalities – Siddipet, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda.

The nomination process will start on Friday and the last day of nominations is Sunday.

The scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 19 and the last date of withdrawal is April 22. The polling will be held on April 30 and re-poll, if any, will be held on May 2. The counting of votes will take place on May 3. Readmore!

In all, 66 wards in Warangal municipal corporation and 60 wards in Khammam will go to polls.

Similarly, polling will be held for 43 wards in Siddipet, 20 each in Nagarkurnool and Nalgonda, 27 in Mahabubnagar and 12 in Ranga Reddy.

So, it’s time again for the political parties to take up extensive campaign in these places, spend money like water and pamper voters.

Needless to say, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi enjoys the advantage in these local polls, but who knows, the result of GHMC might get repeated in many of these civic bodies!
