Andhra man is 'over 3 centuries old': EC

Hyderabad: In a detailed study of the Andhra Pradesh electoral polls data available on the website of the Election Commission state unit, has found one individual in Vizag who set a world record by being alive for the past three-and-a-half centuries.

According to a report in the Times of India, this was one of the thousand discrepancies noted by Thummla Lokeshwar Reddy and his team, while analysing the data.

Thummala is an IIM Bangalore alumni and a software engineer, who along with his team is analysing the election commissions data.

Reportedly, the study has found about 15 per cent entries on the website are either invalid, illegal, duplicate or repetitive.  Readmore!

The study claims that such a huge margin of error is enough to swing the mandate in any polls. Out of the 3.6 crore registered voters in Andhra Pradesh, the study has put the number of affected voters at 52.67 lakh.

Reportedly, the study also claimed that more than 25 lakh entries where the voter's name and that of the father or husband are correct but the other details are wrong.

Thousands of irregularities pertaining to one person having two votes on same voter ID, incorrect house numbers and double votes were recorded in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Reportedly, Thummala told TOI on Tuesday that "It is the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure that democracy doesn't succumb to irregularities."

However, the Election Commission has given time between September 1 and October 31 for filing claims and objections. Reportedly, the Commission has already received around 30 lakh applications.
