Amaravati or Vizag: Where'll CM take oath?

In another 24 hours, there will be clarity on who is going to be the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh – will it be YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy again or will Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu return to power again after a gap of five years.

While both the parties are keeping their fingers crossed, the official of the General Administration Department (GAD) in the state secretariat are a little confused as to where the swearing-in ceremony will take place.

Though it is a little early to decide on the venue of swearing-in ceremony, they have to be ready to make the arrangements, if the new government that forms after June 4 may decide on taking over the reins in the next two or three days.

Interestingly, both the YSRCP and the TDP leaders are telling the media about where the swearing-in ceremony of the chief minister would be. Readmore!

Jagan has already declared that he would take oath as the chief minister at Visakhapatnam which would be his administrative capital.

The YSRCP leaders held consultations on the venue with many suggesting Kalavani Stadium or Andhra University Engineering College Grounds in Visakhapatnam.

Endorsing his decision, his cabinet colleague Botcha Satyanarayana said the party had already blocked several rooms in some star hotels in Visakhapatnam for the delegates coming from all parts of the country to attend the swearing in ceremony.

“The YSRCP’s victory is a foregone conclusion,” he said.

On other hand, TDP leader and former Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao made it very clear that they are committed to continue Amaravati as the single capital and the swearing-in ceremony will take place there itself.

According to TDP sources, the place where erstwhile Praja Vedika was located adjacent to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence at Vundavalli, will be the place for swearing-in ceremony of Naidu.

“He wants to rebuild the state from the same place, which was destroyed by the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy government soon after coming to power in 2019,” a TDP leader said.

So, whether it will be Amaravati or Visakhapatnam which is going to be the seat of administration will be decided in the next 24-48 hours!
