Vidaamuyarchi (titled Pattudala in Telugu), starring Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan, and Arjun Sarja in key roles, is struggling at the box office.
After a decent start, the film failed to maintain momentum and took a nosedive on its first Monday.
Despite a slight recovery yesterday, the overall collection remains far below expectations, falling short of its massive production budget.
Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, this Kollywood action thriller was released on February 6 with a four-day extended opening weekend.
However, it couldn’t capitalize on the advantage, earning only â¹63.25 crores in its first weekend.
The situation worsened on Monday, with collections dropping to â¹3.20 crores—a sharp 88% decline from its opening day’s â¹27 crores. Compared to Sunday’s â¹12.50 crores, Monday’s figure marked a 74% drop.
On Day 5, the film showed a minor upward trend, collecting â¹3.35 crores, but such marginal jumps won’t be enough to salvage it.
The total Indian box office collection now stands at â¹69.80 crores net, which is significantly below expectations for a film of this scale.
With an estimated budget of â¹185 crores, Vidaamuyarchi has recovered only 37.72% of its costs so far. A massive â¹115.20 crores still needs to be recovered, making it nearly impossible for the film to break even.
Globally, the film has grossed â¹118.84 crores in six days, which includes â¹82.36 crores from India and â¹36.48 crores from overseas markets. While the international numbers are better, they are insufficient to cover the film’s heavy budget.
Unless something extraordinary happens, Vidaamuyarchi seems destined to end its theatrical run as a commercial failure.
