YSRCP's First MP Candidate Said to Be Finalised

The upcoming elections are very crucial for the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). The party believes that it must win a large number of both MP and MLA seats to make a strong political comeback.

Following the strategy of strengthening areas where it had previously performed well, the YSRCP is now focusing heavily on North Andhra.

In the 2019 elections, the party won 8 out of 10 Assembly seats in the undivided Srikakulam district. The party now hopes to repeat a similar performance in the 2029 elections.

As part of this plan, the YSRCP leadership is said to be focusing seriously on MP seats. Readmore!

The party’s strategy is that if strong candidates are fielded for Parliament seats, it will also help the party win Assembly segments under those constituencies.

Interestingly, the YSRCP has never won the Srikakulam Lok Sabha seat so far. Because of this, there are reports that the party leadership has already decided on a candidate three years ahead of the elections.

According to political circles, senior leader Tammineni Sitaram is likely to be fielded as the YSRCP candidate for the Srikakulam MP seat in 2029.

Tammineni is an experienced politician who served as a minister earlier and later as Speaker during the YSRCP government.

Sources say that during a recent meeting with the party leadership, Tammineni was reportedly given an assurance about the MP ticket.

The high command is said to have advised him to start working seriously in the constituency from now itself.

He has also reportedly been asked to strengthen the party in all Assembly constituencies that come under the Srikakulam Parliament segment.

The Kalinga community, which has a strong presence in the Srikakulam region, is believed to be a key factor behind this decision.

Party leaders feel that fielding a senior leader like Tammineni could help the YSRCP achieve the desired results.

It is also said that Tammineni himself has long wished to enter Parliament at least once in his political career.

With these developments, political circles are abuzz with speculation that he may become the YSRCP’s MP candidate in the next elections.

If this plan materialises, it could bring significant changes in the political landscape of Srikakulam district.
