With less than two weeks left for the declaration of results for the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party leadership has been making calculations as to how many seats it would be able to win in the elections.
Based on the feedback obtained by the party from polling booth-level and comparing it with the predictions made by the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) headed by political strategist Prashant Kishore, the YSRC leadership has come to the conclusion that it will definitely cross the 100 seats mark in the 175 member state assembly and will be able to form the next government in the state.
According to a party source, the YSRC leadership has come to the conclusion that it is going to definitely win 75-79 assembly seats with comfortable majority and these seats are pucca for the party. In another 20 seats, there fight is tight and YSRC might win all of them with narrow margins.
In at least another 20 seats, there will be neck-to-neck fight and even if the YSRC gets four to five such seats, it would easily win 100 seats.
“This calculation was made based on the booth-wise polling patterns. But, one thing is certain. YSRC is going to form the government and at this stage, all the calculations are only tentative,” sources said.
On the other hand, the YSRC predicted that the Telugu Desam Party might get around 45-50 MLA seats comfortably and will put up a tough fight in another 20-25 seats.
With regard to Lok Sabha elections, too, the YSRC is hopeful that it would get 20-22 MP seats. While it has lost hopes on three MP seats – Bapatla, Narasapuram and Chitoor, it expects a tough contest in another two or three seats, party sources said.
