TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has been stating that he would issue bonds to people with the money they are supposed to receive after the TDP forms the next government.
Naidu had made six promises in his first manifesto released a couple of months ago.
He pledged to provide free travel for women on RTC buses within the district. He also promised the Maha Shakthi, Thalliki Vandanam, Yuvashakthi, and Annadatha schemes, in which he intends to provide financial assistance to the people.
Now, the TDP plans to issue bonds to every household, indicating how much each household would receive if the TDP comes to power.
They would collect the details of every family member to determine the benefits they would receive if the TDP is elected.
The bonds that the TDP wants to issue would contain all the details of the schemes that every family member is eligible for from the government.
However, a significant question arises because Naidu had made similar promises during the 2019 general election.
He had pledged Pasupu-Kumkuma and loan waivers for all farmers, weavers, and SHG women.
He instructed them to stop repaying their loans to the banks, promising that his government would clear all the debts.
Farmers and SHG women stopped their repayments. But what happened next?
How much money did Naidu actually provide to the farmers and SHG women's groups? It took him four years to come up with a financing plan for the loan waiver for farmers.
By that time, farmers and SHG women had already defaulted on their bank loans, and the banks had stopped issuing new loans!
People are concerned that Naidu might repeat a similar pattern if he comes to power, and this sentiment is echoed across the state, regardless of the social segment people belong to.
