Actress Laya Gorty, who once enjoyed popularity as a leading heroine in Telugu cinema, settled in the USA after her marriage.
Over the years, she shared glimpses of her life there, balancing family life while working and posting about her experiences as a homemaker.
After nearly two decades of marital life and with her daughter now entering her teenage years, Laya decided to return to acting. She has been attempting to build a strong second innings in the industry.
Interestingly, in this comeback phase, she is sharing screen space with many senior actors who were once her co-stars during her peak years.
However, while she earlier appeared as the lead heroine, she is now taking up character roles, mostly playing the wife to senior heroes.
Despite her efforts, the much-needed boost has not yet come her way. None of her recent films have turned into successes. “Thammudu”, starring Nithiin, ended up as a box-office disappointment.
Another film, “Sampradayini Suppini Suddapusani”, where she played the wife of Sivaji Sontineni, also failed to make an impact commercially.
Laya is now pinning her hopes on her upcoming thriller “Vadhala”, in which she appears as the wife of Jagapathi Babu.
It remains to be seen whether this film will provide the breakthrough she has been looking for in her second innings.
