Will Jagan ask Pilli, Mopidevi to quit?

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is a tough politician known for adhering to certain principles in politics. If he takes any decision, he will go to any extent to see that it is implemented.

Soon after taking over as the chief minister, Jagan made it clear that if any legislator from any party wants to join the YSR Congress party officially, he has to first resign from the assembly membership. And he is abiding by this principle strictly.

Though a couple of TDP members – Vallabhaneni Vamsi and Maddali Giridhar, and Jana Sena Party MLA Rapaka Varaprasad have extended their support to YSRC openly, they have not officially joined the YSRC and in the assembly, they technically continue to be in their respective parties.

And yes, he admitted TDP member from legislative council Pothula Sunitha into the YSRC, but she is a nominated member and was not elected representative. Moreover, she will be anyway losing her MLC seat once the legislative council is abolished. Readmore!

Now, there is a question being raised in political circles. Since Jagan has recommended abolition of legislative council, what will be the fate of two ministers – Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, who are from the legislative council.

Since the council has not yet been abolished, Jagan can as well continue them as the ministers. However, by recommending the abolition of the council, Jagan has indicated that he does not want to acknowledge the presence of council.

So, it is unlikely that he might not consider Pilli and Mopidevi as the council members. What will he do then?

There is a talk in the party circles that he might ask the two leaders to resign from the cabinet sooner later. And in order to recognise their services, he might nominate them to Rajya Sabha, sources said.
