The Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to take a call in the next couple of days on allowing the Telugu Desam Party headed by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu into the National Democratic Alliance.

The BJP two-day national convention is being held in New Delhi on Friday and Saturday. Around 11,000 delegates, including national and state-ranked office-bearers are attending the convention.

On Friday morning, BJP Andhra Pradesh unit president Daggubai Purandeshwari left for Delhi along with her party colleagues to attend the convention.

The primary objective of the national convention is to deliberate on comprehensive agendas for the Lok Sabha polls and present a clear roadmap for electoral success.

The BJP has declared its ambition to win 370 seats and the NDA’s target to exceed 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“If a decision is taken, the BJP national leadership might call the TDP president and also Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan to New Delhi on Sunday to formalise the talks. If the party has decided not to ally with the TDP, it will also be conveyed to the state BJP leadership,” sources added.
