The advocates from Guntur district have been holding protests against the State government’s move to shift the High Court from Amaravati. A series of protests were held across the Guntur district, for the past one month.
There are protests of the advocates from the Uttarandhra to shift the High Court to their region. The advocates from here are not happy with the new railway zone, but want the High Court for them.
Similar protests from people and advocates from Rayalaseema are being held with a demand to shift the HC to their region.
Some of the Rayalseema leaders are recalling the Sri Bagh Pact, where it was agreed to share capital and HC between Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra.
Accordingly, the capital was opened at Kurnool and High Court in Guntur in 1953, when Andhra State was created from Madras State.
But, in 1956, both the capital and High Court were moved to Hyderabad with the formation of Andhra Pradesh.
Now, with the 1953’s Andhra is back, the demands for implementation of the Sri Bagh Pact is gaining momentum.
Giving hopes to this demand, Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath, had hinted at shifting the HC to Rayalaseema.
He said that the government is looking into the proposal as the chief minister is in favour of spreading the development to all the 13 districts and not to concentrate it in Amaravati.
If the government shifts the HC, it might see some protests from the advocates, but for sure, the ruling party will win the hearts of the Seema people.
The capital is given to Amaravati, railway zone to Uttarandhra and High Court to Rayalaseema, doing justice to all the three regions, is what the ruling YSR Congress leaders say.
