Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president and Lok Sabha member Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday accused chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of dishonouring former Prime Minister late P V Narasimha Rao by not paying tributes to him on his birth and death anniversaries.
“During the last MLC elections, KCR invoked the name of P V Narasimha Rao only to garner the votes of Brahmins. After winning the elections, he stopped attending the birth and death anniversaries of the former Prime Minister,” Sanjay alleged, after paying tributes to Narasimha Rao at the PV Ghat at Necklace Road on his 102nd birth anniversary.
Describing KCR is a synonym for cheating, the BJP president said all the time, the chief minister would think of cheating different sections and caste groups for his electoral gains, rather than doing something good for them.
He said Narasimha Rao was a polyglot and an intellectual par excellence.
“He was the first South Indian to become the Prime Minister and was a role model for several politicians for his modesty, integrity and culture. It is a matter of pride for all of us that he was a son of the soil from Telangana,” Sanjay said.
The BJP president found fault with the Congress party for ignoring Narasimha Rao at a time when the entire country was paying tributes to him on his birth anniversary.
“The Congress party insulted Narasimha Rao by not conducting his funeral in a proper matter after his death, while the BRS president continues to insult him by not bothering to visit his ghat even on his birth anniversary,” he said.
Sanjay appealed to the Brahmin community to be wary of dirty politics of KCR, who was an expert in appeasing various caste and religious groups only at the time of elections.
“He always plays politics of betrayal,” he criticised.
He said it was shameful on the part of KCR not to react on the statement of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi that they would pull down the PV Ghat.
“Surprisingly, KCR treats such leaders as secular, while calls us communalists for condemning Owaisi’s statement and warning him of dire consequences,” he said.
He also sought to know why KCR was not bringing pressure on the Centre to honour Narasimha Rao with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in the country.
“He claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is his good friend. Why is he not asking for Bharat Ratna to PV?” he asked.
