The reports that YSR Congress party leader and Andhra Pradesh state irrigation minister P Anil Kumar Yadav made a call to Telugu Desam Party legislator Gottipati Ravi Kumar, from Addanki assembly constituency in Prakasam district, on Wednesday led to a lot of speculations in the political circles.
According to official reports, Anil Kumar made the call to Gottipati to give an assurance that the government would take all possible steps to see that there is no drinking water crisis in Prakasam district.
“I have already discussed the drinking water issue with district minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy and it is under active consideration of the government. We shall obtain the required report from Prakasam district collector and take appropriate measures,” Anil is learnt to have told Gottipati.
Apparently, the minister reacted on a letter written by Gottipati along with two other TDP MLAs from the district – Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy (Kondepi) and Eluri Sambasiva Rao (Parchuru) requesting that the minister take initiative in resolving irrigation and drinking water crisis in the district.
It was really surprising on the part of the minister to call up the TDP legislator and respond to the issues pertaining to Prakasm so quickly in a positive way.
And this is not the first time that the TDP MLAs had written to the YSRC government. Earlier, too, the three MLAs raised the issue of farmers in their letter to Jagan government.
This led to the speculations that the three TDP MLAs from Prakasam are inching towards the YSRC. Anil might have talked with the Prakasam TDP MLAs on other issues as well, including their demands for joining the YSRC fold.
“Otherwise, never in the past did the YSRC minister responded so quickly to the TDP leaders’ demands,” a senior journalist said.
