Why Did KCR Drop Fight Against Centre?

When TRS president and CM K Chandrasekhar Rao convened the meeting of the party state executive committee on Sunday, everybody expected that there would be fireworks from hit at the Bharatiya Janata Party in general and Narendra Modi government at particular.

But surprisingly, KCR focussed mostly on the party activities and how to strengthen the organisation by taking up membership drive and appointment of committees at all levels.

However, the obvious question of the BJP’s highhandedness came up for discussion at the meeting and some leaders even pointed out that lack of a stand from the TRS on the ongoing agitation of farmers in Delhi against the three controversial farm laws might prove counterproductive to the party.

But KCR did not utter a word against the BJP or Modi. He said he was not in a position to disclose some issues and what he had discussed with whom. Readmore!

“We cannot certain things in the open in the interest of centre-state relations. I have to protect our party and the state and so, I am not able to discuss certain issues with you,” he said.

Party sources said KCR had apparently realised the futility of fighting with the Narendra Modi government, in view of its arm-twisting strategies. So, it is better to get maximum benefits to the state by maintaining friendly relations at least the government level.

Secondly, he also realised that there is no possibility of forming an alternative political force against the BJP at the national level, at least for the time being, since the opposition parties in different states have their own strategies and have no common ground. So, there is no point in confronting Modi and it is better to concentrate on the state.

However, KCR wants the party leaders not to keep silent on the attacks asked the party leaders to be active in the social media and counter the opposition criticism on various issues.

He assured that all the sitting MLAs of the party would be given party tickets in the next elections.
