The sudden visit of Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLC and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha to the Bhagyalakshmi temple at Charminar in the early hours of Wednesday has become a topic of discussion in the political circles.
Kavitha, along with her TRS followers and activists of Telangana Jagruthi, participated in Bhogi Festival at 5.30 am at Charminar.
They set up the Bhogi mantalu (bonfire) near the historic monument, where they sang the Telangana songs.
Kavitha wished for the prosperity and good health of all, while addressing the media after setting up the bonfire as part of the annual ritual.
Later, she offered special prayers at the Bhagyalaxmi temple and prayed for good health of the people of the state.
" May the divine light of this Bhogimantalu brings in a new dawn in the lives of each one us. Praying for everybody's prosperity, good health. Happy #Bhogi" , Kavitha tweeted
It was perhaps for the first time that Kavitha took part in the Bhogi celebrations at Charminar in the old city of Hyderabad and praying the deity at Bhagyalakshmi temple.
The temple had been in the news during the recent Greater Hyderabad Municipal Council elections, when the BJP leaders made it a focal point of their campaign as it is located in the Muslim dominated Charminar area.
While BJP national leader and Union home minister Amit Shah, during his short visit to Hyderabad, also made it a point to visit Bhagyalakshmi temple before taking up his road show, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay launched his attack on the TRS from this temple.
Sanjay even challenged TRS leaders, particularly KCR and his son K T Rama Rao, to take an oath on Bhagyalakshmi temple over the development of Hyderabad.
But the TRS leaders did not respond. After winning good number of seats in the GHMC elections, too, the BJP corporators came to this temple to take oath.
May be, the TRS leadership thought ignoring Bhagyalakshmi temple might have resulted in a debacle in the GHMC elections.
That is why Kavitha might have chosen Bhagyalakshmi temple for the Bhogi celebrations.
May be, the TRS bosses also thought of appeasing to the Hindus by visiting the temple!
