What is KCR doing in New Delhi?

It has been two days since Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao left for New Delhi, after making tall claims before the media that he would make the Centre yield to his demands on paddy procurement.

He also told reporters that he would call on the agitating farmers of North India on Delhi borders, besides paying Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the farmers who died during the year-long agitation against the draconian farm laws.

But even after nearly 48 hours, nobody knows what KCR has been doing in the national capital. There has not been a single word from the chief minister’s office or the TRS about his programme of action.

Reports from New Delhi said KCR had sought an appointment with Union ministers Piyush Goel and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah. But it appears there has not been any response from them. Readmore!

There was a report that a team of officials from the Telangana government had met the senior officials of the Union ministry for consumer affairs, food and civil supplies to represent on paddy procurement issue, but there has not been much response from them on purchase of parboiled rice.

Now, the latest talk being floated by the TRS leaders is that KCR would patiently wait for the appointment of the Union ministers and if there is no response from them, he would sit on a dharna at Jantar Mantar on November 29, coinciding with Deeksha Diwas (the day when he began his fast unto death 12 years ago) on procurement issue.

It remains to be seen how far this report is correct and whether KCR would stick to his decisions.
