What can our heroes do: Covid relief or fish curry?

Popular actor Sonu Sood might have been a hardcore villain in films, but has become a hero in real life with his tremendous service to the victims of Covid-19 during the pandemic for more than a year.

Everyday, Sonu Sood has been in the news, both in the mainstream and social media, with his service activities. He has become a household name across the country these days.

At the same time, there has been criticism against our Tollywood personalities, who are financially on a much stronger position than Sonu Sood.

The criticism is that these big personalities are doing nothing for extending relief to the Covid-affected people. Readmore!

All that they are doing is to make videos preaching the people what to do and what not to do to prevent the spreading of the Coronavirus and release them to the media through their public relations’ officers.

Some others are busy releasing videos to showcase their culinary expertise like how to make Nellore fish curry.

In Tamil Nadu, biggies in the film industry have come forward to donate money to the CM Relief Fund. But the same spirit is missing in Tollywood.

Sometime later, they might meet Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, but they would only take up the issues concerning the release of films and reopening of theatres.

“They are more interested in getting the ticket prices increased and resumption of shootings, instead of extending their helping hand to the governments in tackling the Coronavirus situation,” a critic said.

No doubt, the film industry is undergoing crisis during the pandemic. But that hardly affects heroes, as all the losses are incurred by film producers. So, our heroes are least bothered about the Coronavirus crisis.

Maybe, they are of the view that they might have to donate big money to both the Telugu states, as they cannot ignore one chief minister and pamper only the other.

So, they have become silent during the second wave of Covid-19. That is precisely why they have become the subjects of criticism in the social media.

One such post in the social media says: “Want to make fish curry? Ask our Telugu film heroes. Want assistant for Covid-19 relief? Ask Sonu Sood.” It may sound harsh to the ears of our heroes, but there is some truth in it.

Our heroes post messages in the social media on Covid-19 to promote the initiatives of the police department or the government. But they hardly take up any programme to come to the rescue of the poor people affected by Covid-19.

At the most, they get associated with some organisations to promote their activity, but they won’t take up any such relief work on their own.

The fans might like the stand taken by their heroes. But common man is reacting bluntly and expressing his views in the social media!
