Vundavalli: Jagan govt debts crossed Rs 6 lakh crore!

known for spitting fire at YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy quite often, former Congress MP from Rajahmundry and self-styled intellectual Vundavalli Arun Kumar on Saturday once again fumed at the chief minister for pushing the state into severe debts.

Speaking to reporters at Rajahmundry, Vundavalli said the financial position of the state was in worst-ever condition, with the Jagan government indulging in indiscriminate borrowing of loans.

“So far, the state government had borrowed Rs 6 lakh crore loans from various sources. It has mortgaged even the assets of Amaravati. It is unfortunate that the financial position has plunged into such an unprecedented crisis despite the chief minister having so many advisors. We don’t understand what they are doing,” he said.

Warning that AP would be heading towards financial emergency if the situation continued like this, Vundavalli said it was time the Jagan government put an end to borrowings indiscriminately. Readmore!

The former MP said the state government had surrendered to the Centre for the sake of loans. Though no state in the country had agreed for one-nation-one-ration system, Andhra Pradesh had given the nod for the same, he pointed out.

“The Polavaram project has been completely neglected. Though there has been no progress in the project works, the government is making big announcements. The Centre has raised queries over spending of Rs 4,068 crore on Polavaram project,” he said.

Vundavalli pointed out that the project evacuees had not got compensation till date.

“It is unfortunate that the Centre has not granted permission for the drinking water component of the Polavaram project. Till now, there is no clarity on the expenditure to be incurred on the project,” he criticised.
