Vizag To Be Developed As IT Hub!

Visakhapatnam, which has been officially declared as the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh, has all the potential grow as a mighty hub for information technology and compete with any major city in the country in the IT sector.

During the combined Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad was on the global map as a destination for IT; and Visakhapatnam was in the no. 2 position. The credit for bringing IT to Visakhapatnam goes to former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

During his tenure, YSR had given a lot of importance to developing IT sector in Visakhapatnam. He had a lot of foresight in bringing the IT sector to Vizag. The present IT Hills had come up during his regime. More than 100 IT companies are running at present in Vizag, providing employment to nearly 30,000 people.

Soon after coming to power last year, the present Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government has announced that it would come up with a new IT policy. The IT sector is asking for an incentive of nearly Rs 100 crore. Readmore!

Since, the Jagan government has decided to divide Andhra Pradesh into four zones, Visakhapatnam has been proposed to be developed as IT hub. If that happens, Vizag will emerge as a potential IT destination on par with Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, say experts.

The Jagan government, which is all set to announce the new IT policy shortly, is all set to extend all facilities to promote the IT industry in Visakhapatnam to make it a top IT hub. If that happens, Visakhapatnam would soon find a place in the global IT map!
