Dear Comrade is the third film from Vijay Deverakonda after he has taken the box office by storm with Geetha Govindam.
And none of these films were able to set the box office on fire like Geetha Govindam or Arjun Reddy. NOTA
Vijay picked NOTA hoping that it would be the right follow up film for Arjun Reddy, but it turned out to be a damp squib.
Taxiwala that was supposed to come after Pelli Chupulu only made it to theaters post Geetha Govindam. Thanks to Vijay's rising stardom, the low budget film made good profits but it turned out to be a pointless film for Vijay at that stage.
Dear Comrade was on sets by the time Geetha Govindam released. Mythri Movie Makers reassessed the market value of Dear Comrade according to Vijay's current market and hiked the budget.
Vijay made sure to have all the elements that would appeal to youth and reinstate his rebel image, but such things didn't fit in Dear Comrade, which eventually got turned down by all sections of audience.
Instead of signing up movies that build on his Geetha Govindam's image, Vijay picked films that restricted him from going to the next league.
It's high time to make wise choices to utilize his youth following and do movies that also caters to family audience.
