Upper castes captured Telangana, says TRS leader

Remember Swamy Goud? He was the president of the Telangana Non-Gazetted Employees Association (TNGO) for a long time before spearheading the movement for separate Telangana on behalf of the employees.

He was arrested several times and beaten up by the police indiscriminately during the Telangana agitation, resulting in his hospitalisation. He almost faced the near-death situation during the agitation.

After the formation of Telangana, Swamy Goud became an active member of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and was given the MLC seat by TRS president and K Chandrasekhar Rao.

When he expected that he would get the cabinet berth, KCR made him the chairman of Telangana legislative council. Readmore!

But after 2018 elections, KCR ignored him completely and did not renew his council membership. Subsequently, Swamy Goud has faded out in politics. He has been keeping away from the TRS activities as well.

On Thursday, Swamy Goud made a public appearance after a long time and made some serious comments on the ruling in the state. He said only a few upper castes are ruling Telangana and also the centre.

“These groups have kept the weaker sections away from power,” he said.

He regretted that the power was captured by a few people who have been discriminating against the lower castes.

“How long should this discrimination go on? Why are the weaker sections remaining silent when only a few upper castes are dominating the state and the centre? It is time we take up the warpath to capture power,” Swamy Goud said.
