With big films staying away from slack season, small budget films and dubbed films are trying their luck at the box office. Low budget comedy film Tenali Ramakrishna BA. BL. released on Friday and has opened to disappointing reports. The film hasn't registered decent numbers on its first day and it is unlikely to pick up given the poor word of mouth.
Vishal's high-octane action thriller Action also was released on Friday, but has been receiving average reports from the target audience. The film was sold for high price compared to Vishal's recent outings and it will be hard to recover its costs at this rate. Vijay Sethupathi had a delayed released due to financial issues.
Last week's release Thippara Meesam is a total washout while Bollywood's Bala continues to hold well. Karthi's Khaidi turned out to be a profitable venture for all parties and Vijay's Whistle has been able to breakeven.
