It is being speculated that there is a strong reason behind Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's swift move to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to uncover the truth behind the allegations concerning Tirumala laddu prasadam.
Both former TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy and senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy have filed separate petitions in the Supreme Court, requesting the formation of an impartial committee under the supervision of the CBI or the Supreme Court to bring clarity to the allegations involving the Chief Minister and the laddu prasadam.
Within the TDP, there's talk that CM Chandrababu Naidu's actions are motivated by fear due to these petitions. This is believed to be the reason for his rushed formation of the SIT and the hurried appointment of officials.
With the Supreme Court hearing scheduled to begin in two days, the SIT team has already traveled to Tirumala and started its investigation.
It is alleged that this hasty move by the Chandrababu government is intended to present an argument in the Supreme Court that an SIT has already been formed and the investigation is underway, thereby negating the need for central investigation agencies.
Reports suggest that Chief Minister Naidu is acting quickly to ensure the investigation remains under his government's control, avoiding a transfer to central agencies or the Supreme Court.
The Chief Minister likely hopes that the Supreme Court will acknowledge the establishment of the SIT, making further investigations unnecessary.
If the Supreme Court's verdict is favorable, it will be a relief for Naidu. However, if the decision goes against him, there is concern about the potential consequences.
Given that the issue involves Lord Venkateswara, many believe an investigation led by the CBI or a Supreme Court-appointed expert committee would be more impartial and less subject to influence.
Chandrababu is reportedly worried that if the allegations regarding the adulteration of Tirumala laddu prasadam are proven false in court, the impact could be significant for his government.
