Stage is set for a complete overhaul of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana, as the party high command is understood to have decided to make key changes in the party in a couple of days.
At the crucial cabinet meeting held under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday, it was reportedly decided to strip Bandi Sanjay of the Telangana BJP chief post and take him into the central cabinet, as reported earlier.
In all probability, the party central leadership has made up its mind to replace Sanjay with union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy. Sanjay is expected to be summoned to Delhi in a day or two.
When reporters in Delhi asked about the issue of change in leadership in the State unit, Kishan Reddy refused to comment. On the other hand, Sanjay on Sunday during a media interaction in Warangal hinted that he would be replaced.
“I don’t know whether I will take part in PM Modi’s programme in Warangal on July 8 in the capacity of party president or not,”he said.
Sources said the high command has decided to make another disgruntled leader Eatala Rajender as the BJP state election committee chairman, so that he would have a major say in the selection of candidates. For the past two days, Eatala has become aggressive in his stand.
The party might not give any posts to Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy or M Raghunandan Rao, who are most likely to defect to the Congress and the BRS respectively, sources added.
