TDP gains upper hand in the first round!

The ruling Telugu Desam Party has gained upper hand in the first round of the counting in the by-elections for Nandyal assembly seat, counting for which began at 8 am on Monday.

According to the reports from ground zero, TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmanand Reddy secured as many as 5,474 votes, compared to 4.179 votes polled by YSR Congress party candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy. Thus, the TDP candidate got a majority of 1,295. The Congress finished a poor third with just 122 votes.

The first round of counting took place in the rural areas of Nandyal, where there was a big percentage of voting. It was expected that the YSRC would fare better in these areas, but surprisingly, the result went in favour of the TDP.
