The opposition TDP missed a significant opportunity to boost the morale of its members after its humiliating defeat in the 2019 general election.
The party had a chance to showcase its strength and put up a strong fight against Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress in the upcoming elections. However, a month ago, on September 9, AP CID arrested TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Nandyal.
Naidu was transported to Vijayawada by road, a journey that took nine hours. Given the TDP's cadre strength, they could have obstructed the CID convoy from Nandyal to Vijayawada, potentially extending the journey to at least nine days. However, for reasons known only to the party's top leadership, this opportunity was lost.
While Chandrababu Naidu was held in the ACB court in Vijayawada from 6 AM to 8:30 PM, the TDP could have utilized this situation to bring normal life to a standstill in Andhra Pradesh. Yet again, this opportunity was missed.
Naidu was subsequently transferred from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram Central Jail on September 10, a journey that took three hours.
The TDP cadre could have blocked the road from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram, potentially forcing the CID to take at least three days to reach the central jail. Unfortunately, the TDP missed this chance as well.
With Naidu in jail, the TDP cadre is now resorting to symbolic gestures like lighting lamps and beating plates, which have no impact on the common man. This represents a significant loss for the TDP in Andhra Pradesh.
