The Opposition TDP, which is desperately working to wrest power in Andhra Pradesh in the 2024 elections is roping in the NRIs for all its electoral activities.
The Chandranna Kanuka, distribution of sarees to women, was organised by Vuyyuru Foundation headed by Vuyyuru Srinivas, which saw stampede leading to the death of three women and injuries to more than a dozen women.
The Guntur police have booked a case under Section 174 of CrPC on the incident. The police are likely to arrest the NRI, who organised the case.
This was the second stampede in just four days of Naidu’s programme where a total of 11 persons including four women died.
The first was at Kandukuru town of SPSR Nellore district, where 8 people were killed in the stampede.
Naidu is mounting pressure on the NRIs, particularly those who were benefited by him and who belonged to his own community.
The NRIs are bringing US Dollars and converting them into Indian Rupees which runs into thousands of rupees with the Dollar exchange rate crossing Rs 82.
Dozens of NRIs are helping both Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh.
The teams are funding the two leaders and the Guntur meeting was one such programme which are lined up by the TDP with the NRIs.
It is high time that the Dollars pumping to AP politics is stopped or else, Guntur stampedes would get repeated, and the 2024 election would become costlier.
