TDP-Cong to have alliance in AP, too!

The Congress party will enter into an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party in the ensuing general elections in Andhra Pradesh, notwithstanding the miserable failure of their alliance through Maha Kootami or People’s Front during the recent assembly elections in Telangana.

The Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy held a meeting in Vijayawada to discuss the strategies for the coming general elections in the state, particularly the need to have an alliance with the TDP, in the wake of the recent flop show in Telangana.

Though some of the senior party leaders like former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed their reservations over the alliance with the TDP, Raghuveera reportedly told the party leaders that the decision to form an alliance was taken by the party high command keeping in view the national interest.

Former MP and party senior leader Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy reportedly said there was nothing that the local party leaders could do, as AICC president Rahul Gandhi himself had given the green signal for the party to enter into a pre-poll alliance with the TDP. Readmore!

However, finalisation of seats between the two parties will be known only at the time of elections.

Several leaders felt that the Congress would have secured more number of seats in Telangana, had it gone alone in the recent assembly elections.

However, in Andhra Pradesh the situation is different as the Congress does not have much stakes and if it contested separately, it would not only result in the party drawing blank in the elections again, but also benefit the YSR Congress party due to splitting of anti-incumbency votes.
