Tata Cancer Hospital: TDP, YSRC claim credit!

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to inaugurate Sri Venkateshwara Institute of Cancer Care and Advanced Research, the second largest cancer centre in the state, at Tirupati on Thursday.

The hospital was constructed by Tata Trust headed by Ratan Tata at a cost of Rs 600 crore.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which manages the country’s richest temple of Lord Venkateshwara in Tirumala, allocated 25 acres of land on the Zoo Park Road in Tirupati.

So, it is a purely private hospital with the support of the TTD. But since Jagan Mohan Reddy is in power, he would naturally claim credit for the completion of the hospital and during the inauguration, it is Jagan who get the prominent coverage. Readmore!

This has created a heartburn among the Telugu Desam Party leaders. They have lost no time in taking to social media to troll the Jagan government stating that he was garnering credit for the project which was conceived by TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu when he was the chief minister.

“The Tata Cancer Research Institute was established in Tirupati, thanks to the initiative taken by Chandrababu Naidu. He brought Ratan Tata to Tirupati to take up the project. The foundation stone was laid on August 31, 2018 and it was supposed to be completed within a year,” the TDP said.

“The way Jagan is cutting the ribbon for the Tata Cancer Institute and claiming credit for the project, which was the result of Naidu’s hard work is “Never before, ever after publicity,” the TDP claimed on its twitter.

It is in fact, nobody’s effort. The Tata Trust came forward to establish the hospital at the request of the TTD, which allotted land for the same. It has also agreed to provide treatment to cancer patients at a very low cost.

So, why fight for gaining political mileage?
