Till the other day, there was a talk in the political and media circles in Andhra Pradesh that Dr Narreddy Sunitha Reddy, daughter of slain former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy (uncle of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy) will contest from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat.
Sunitha met Sharmila at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district a few days ago and both of them held discussions for over two hours, before paying homage at the samadhi of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
This led to the speculation that Sunitha will join the Congress soon and will be fielded from Kadapa LS constituency in the upcoming general elections.
However, enquiries revealed that Sunitha has expressed her reluctance to join the Congress, let alone contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
Apparently, Sunitha is said to be facing the problem of Indian citizenship. She is learnt to be a US citizen along with her husband, though they returned to India in 2008 itself.
It is not immediately known whether they have cancelled their US citizenship and obtained Indian citizenship.
Now, the latest talk is that Viveka’s wife Sowbhagyamma would be fielded for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, as an independent backed by the Congress. There is also a talk that the TDP or the Jana Sena would not field any candidates against her.
“A decision would be taken only after the YSR Congress party announces its candidates. If sitting MP Y S Avinash Reddy contests again, then Sowbhagyamma will enter the fray from LS polls. Otherwise, she might drop out,” sources added.
