Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Y S Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary has kicked up a controversy in Andhra politics by claiming that several YSR Congress party MPs are in touch with him and are interesting in joining the BJP.
This has evoked sharp reaction from the YSRC leaders. Several MPs held a press conference in Delhi and challenged him to disclose the name of at least one YSRC MP who was in touch with him to join the BJP. They asked him to keep his mouth shut.
On Saturday, YSRC MP from Narsapuram K Raghurama Krishnam Raju made an interesting comment.
“In fact, Sujana himself is going to join the YSR Congress party. He is a seasoned politician. He knows what is good and what is bad. There is no surprise if he joins the YSRC within a year and a half, as he will be impressed by the welfare and developmental programmes being undertaken by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in the state,” he said.
Raju said Sujana was only lying to please the Delhi bosses.
“Any leader will quit his party only if it does not have the chances of coming to power again. But in Andhra Pradesh, people are very much impressed by the YSR Congress party government and Jagan’s popularity graph is growing. So, why should any YSRC leader defect to another party?” he asked.
May be Sujana was trying to say that the TDP leaders were evincing interest in joining the BJP.
“Instead of saying TDP leaders, he might have said YSRC leaders,” Raju explained.
The Narsarpuram MP said the BJP had no scope for growth in Andhra Pradesh.
“So, who will join the party which has no base in Andhra Pradesh?” he asked.
