The director was keen on taking this project even before the release of his second film in 2022. He narrated the story of 'Mangalavaaram' to some important people he knows. Even Allu Arjun gave him an audience. Bhupathi hints that the 'Pushpa 2' actor was blown away by the trailer.

How should we see the 'A' certificate to the movie? Bhupathi is quick to allude to the film's horror elements.

"Movies with elements of horror feature sounds designed to scare the viewer. That's why the 'A' certificate, which something films like 'Virupaksha' too have received. Let me say that this film has not even an iota of vulgarity. That early poster featuring Payal Rajput in a backless pose was not vulgar. It was about the fear in her eyes," Bhupathi says.

The film's music by 'Kantara' fame Ajaneesh B Loknath is next level, says the director. Swathi Reddy Gunupati and Suresh Varma M of Mudhra Media works earned the respect of Bhupathi right from the start.
