YSR Telangana party president Y S Sharmila on Saturday asked Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to recommend to the Centre for imposition of President’s Rule in Telangana, in the wake of worsening law and order situation in the state.
Speaking to reporters after submitting a memorandum to the Governor, Sharmila accused chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of dishonouring democracy and crushing the fundamental rights of the people.
“There is no democracy in the state. While the Indian Constitution is followed across the country, KCR’s constitution runs in Telangana. The chief minister and his BRS colleagues are allergic to opposition parties’ interacting with the disgruntled masses, and so are unleashing terror and violence against the parties that are fighting for the people,” she said.
Sharmila wondered whether Telangana was Afghanistan, and the BRS leaders are Taliban.
“Just like how stray dogs are attacking children on streets, the BRS goons are attacking us like beasts,” she alleged.
She said it was shameful that the state is being run in an autocratic way, while the KCR government had utterly failed in keeping every promise it had made.
“The whole state has turned into a battlefield, from village to the town. It is highly condemnable to recall how a young activist of a political party was attacked and grievously injured, recently,” she said.
Sharmila said broad daylight murders, attacks on women, and brutality against tribals and farmers, the list of tyrannical acts is endless and there is a complete law and order breakdown in Telangana. There is no section that is safe under KCR’s rule. Look at the alcohol and drug related crimes. There are no arrests and the rogues are let free, she added.
